Mom Hack
I haven’t rang in the New Year at midnight in 7 years. A few years ago I started a new tradition with my friends (all with new or little kids) that we would ring in the new year on “Paris time”.

First, Paris is, well…Paris. And second, it’s not midnight. I’m on Pacific Standard Time, so that’s 3 pm for us. Not during naptime, before bedtime, not during dinner time. All a WIN! (We actually then celebrated every hour for the next few  hours as the earth rotated. So next was London time (4pm), Ponta Delgada, Portugal time (5pm), King Edward Island time (6pm), etc.)

Here’s what I did…
  1. Set the Schedule: You’ll need to pick the time that works for you. This year we’re doing “New York time”. So pick your time.

  2. Send Invites: Use evite, send texts, make calls. Spread the word to friends or family joining the celebration.

  3. Pick Up the Goodies: Grab beverages toasting, party hats, decorations, and some glow sticks. Stock up on ingredients for snacks and treats for a delightful evening. We have a small disco ball that is always a party favorite.

  4. Set the Stage: Transform your space into a festive zone. Deck the halls with streamers, and balloons.

  5. Celebrate: Let the fun begin! Games make the evening fun and give people something to do between toasts. Utter Nonsense, Giant Jenga and Twister are crowd favorites. Don’t forget the disco ball for the dance party!
